Child of God, Christian Book Author
At eight years old Connie asked for a Bible for Christmas, hoping for God's comfort from her home life marred by her father's alcoholism and gambling. Her faith journey with a Bible gifted by her grandparents began Christmas morning with In the beginning...
Connie and her sister, Bonnie, were born in Texas to loving parents, yet tempered by their father's addictions. Connie found that Church, a norm for Bible belt kids, provided safe haven. It was home. She remembers nights her father drank and arguments ensued. Connie clung to her Bible and her sister, praying God would deliver them from that nightmare. As Connie learned, children of alcoholics face their own demons. Only The Lord can make a difference in life's outcome.
Connie married an unbeliever at age 19 to escape home life, a willful misstep of faith. The marriage produced two wonderful daughters, but proved to be difficult. After years of worldly living, Connie renewed her love for Jesus Christ and His church. She even began a church group called Beloved Believers for married women with unbelieving spouses. Several spouses came to the Lord, including Connie's, but that did not undo the marriage difficulties. Being self-employed during those years Connie could be an involved mother, volunteer, grow in faith, and learn business processes. She learned that with God anything is possible. However, the 24-year marriage ended in divorce.
Today, Connie is remarried. She and John are parents to three married daughters and grandparents to five. They are ordained elders and Bethel Bible series certified teachers. Her spiritual gifts of teaching, administration and leadership led Connie to be president of women's groups, write Bible studies and programming, and be a dynamic Bible study leader and program organizer. The Lord has used her to lead many to Christ.
Connie's 36-year career reflects the realities of being a professional Christian woman in the workplace. Besides self-employment, she’s worked for private, public and religious entities. Bringing Christ into her work life and lessons learned have served her well and has helped pave the way for her daughters to succeed in their workplaces. Thus, through God, Choose High Road Victories is the next step in her faith journey.
